Distance Between Stars

I know what you are,
Farther away than I know,
You move and charge
And hold it in waiting
To erupt into negative energy.

You burn yourself
Because there is nothing as satisfying
As taking everything from something else,
But there is no something else
Where you are.

From here,
From my perch inside myself,
I can only see you smoothly framed
In a rich slice of night air,
The frayed edges of trees
Twisting into silhouette.

We are not so different,
Cosmic only to each other,
Maybe I am what you watch
And comparatively,
It should only be that way.
