For Ty

You held me in your gaze
And spoke, thought I
Could not hear your words.

It was I who watched you
In the hungry wind
You carried the stars in your eyes.

Movement, acceleration;
You became something
I stood in the shadows and watched.

Night comes on gentle feet,
Walking the road of the sky,
Crashing into the ground.

Collision is not uncommon
It seems we were made for such things.
We meet in the air and never fall.

One of us must always falter
Life works that way.
One of us will always stand.

We can try to beat the system
But it’s our system
And it’s grown itself into me.
